Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on the 24th of August 1972 at Long Beach California. DuVernay received support from her Aunt Denise as just a young girl. Aunt Denise, who worked night shifts as a nurse, allowed her to study literature for art as well as theatre in daylight. The aunt introduced DuVernay to the film of 1961 West Side Story and DuVernay became enthralled by the film. DuVernay was able to see through her mother's examples of the power of art as an activist vehicle. DuVernay's mother also had a social consciousness and taught DuVernay how to communicate by means of artwork. DuVernay was brought up in Compton with her parents but spent the summers with Lowndes County Alabama. This is where DuVernay's father's family was for many generations. The father of DuVernay's reminiscences recalled the historic civil rights march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the neighboring town of Selma Alabama. DuVernay would use the summers she spent in Alabama as inspiration for her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was awarded her high school diploma at Saint Joseph High School, Lakewood California in 1990. She attended University of California Los Angeles to obtain degrees in English in addition to African American Studies. DuVernay began to produce in broadcast journalism when she was in her the college. DuVernay began her career working as an intern at CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being asked to check the trash in the house of a member of jury. Her tasks left her disappointed in journalism, so she made the decision to go into the publicity industry. DuVernay began her first position as a publicist at an unassuming production studio straight out of school. In 1999, she founded her own firm of public relations dubbed The DuVernay Agency. Alongside PR, the agency has created lifestyle networks and advertising campaigns such as the Urban Beauty Collective. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley was born under the name of. Her fame is due to her role in American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn appeared as Rose in A More Perfect Union, and Anna Payne in American Experience.
