Milena Govich
Milena Govich is a writer, director
actress, musician, and actor who has directed numerous episodes of TV,
including The Equalizer (2021), Chicago Med (2015), FBI: Most Wanted (2020),
Chicago Fire (2012) among others. She also served as the Co-EP/Producing
Director on Dick Wolf's CBS series FBI (2018) and is currently directing two
pilots in development. Milena was one of the eight filmmakers chosen for AFI's
prestigious Directing Workshop for Women, in addition to the only Sony Pictures
Television Diverse Directors Program. Her short film and TV series proof of
concept called Unspeakable, starring Laura Vandervoort and Jeff Kober, saw its
World premiere at SXSW and won the Best Episodic Award at the Seattle
International Film Festival and Best Pilot at the SoHo International Film
Festival. Her short film Temporary (2017) is screened across the country and
was awarded Best Narrative Short at Anthem Film Festival, Best Dark Comedy at
Atlanta ShortsFest as well as the Director's Choice Award at Sedona
International Film Festival. As an actor Milena has been featured in more than
100 shows of television. She first gained national attention in CBS's Love
Monkey (2006), then as the prostitute/con-artist Candy on three seasons of
Rescue Me (2004) (Denis Leary/FX). She also appeared on the Dick Wolf series
Conviction (2006) and was the catalyst for her role as the very first and the
only female detective on the Emmy-winning series Law & Order (1990).
She has also been featured in a number of other shows: K-Ville (2007) (Fox);
The Defenders (2010) (CBS); Make It or Break It (2009) (ABC Family) and also
for the role of Lori Stevens on the MTV drama Finding Carter (2014). Milena is
also a part of many films, such as Sordid Things (2009); A Novel Romance (2011)
which starred alongside Steve Guttenberg; Pass the Light (2015) The #Lucky
Number (2015) with the lead alongside Method Man; and the features Closure
(2018), Be the Light (2020), and The Cleaner (2021). A native of Norman,
Oklahoma, Milena was valedictorian of her high school, and then enrolled in an
undergraduate degree in both vocal performance and premed, with minors in
violin and dance at the University of Central Oklahoma, also graduating
valedictorian. Soon after she made the most of her classical ballet background
to make an appearance on Broadway in the Sam Mendes/Rob Marshall production of
'Cabaret' in Studio 54.
